The last will and testament of Alice Mylrea als Quayle of KK Malew who departed this life about the 27th of March 1786 who was sound and perfect in mind and memory at the making hereof.

First she committed his soul to Almighty God and his body to Christian burial.

Secondly she left and bequeathed to her loving son Edward Mylrea sixpence.

Thirdly she left and bequeathed to her loving husband Edward Mylrea all her worldly goods and effects whatsoever.

Fourthly and lastly she nominated and appointed her said husband Edward Mylrea to be sole and whole executor of all her worldly goods and effects moveable and immoveable whatsoever and excluding all cravers with sixpence apiece as legacy.

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown November 7th 1786 Notwithstanding this will is proved only by one witness yet as no objection has been offered, the Executor is sworn in Court in form of law and has given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely Henry Caveen, Castletown and Edward Shimmin, Malew

NOTES

  1. Daughter of Hugh Quayle and Cath Quayle als Clark, probably born in Arbory and probably about 1715
  2. Her widowed mother settled houses and lands on Alice in 1740 in exchange for a lifetime of care (she died six months later)
  3. Alice married Edward Mylrea, in Arbory, 1741
  4. One surviving child, Edward, baptised 1744/5
  5. A second child was born in 1753 and died in 1754
  6. Edward purchased the Quayle tenancies from Alice's brother in 1764 which he had inherited when their father Hugh died in 1740
  7. Edward & Alice "sold up" in 1778-1779. They would have been in their sixties
  8. Son Edward jnr married Susannah Cashen, and he and his family migrated to Peel where they established a new Mylrea dynasty
  9. Susannah had probably been born in Arbory where most of her siblings were born, the children of William Cashen & Susannah Creere
  10. Alice's husband Edward died about 5 months after Alice
